LEGO gave a jack-o’-lantern its own tiny ghost, and now a pumpkin has a better Halloween accessory than I do.
The Halloween Pumpkin Lantern, set 40872, is listed at $29.99 on LEGO’s U.S. site. Press the stem and the light brick illuminates the face. The little ghost glows in the dark and attaches above the pumpkin, as if it has somewhere very important to haunt.
A little Halloween project that becomes the decoration
The set has 323 pieces, an age recommendation of 9 and up, and a spider to finish the scene. LEGO lists the model at over 4 inches high, 5 inches wide and 4.5 inches deep.
That makes the scale worth paying attention to: think shelf, desk or windowsill. If your Halloween decorating space is the corner next to your books, this feels like a much more reasonable commitment than finding somewhere to store a giant skeleton.
There’s also something deeply appealing about a pumpkin that can go back in the Halloween box afterward. No scooping. No discovering that the pumpkin has become a science project.
The $29.99 price has one small shipping catch
LEGO’s U.S. standard-shipping policy lists a $6.95 charge for merchandise orders from $25.01 through $34.99. At the listed price, ordering this set by itself works out to $36.94 before tax.
Eligible merchandise orders of $35 or more ship free. This pumpkin puts you $5.01 below that threshold. If another small item you already wanted takes the order into the $35–$36.93 range, the merchandise total would be less than buying the pumpkin alone with that shipping charge. Gift cards do not count toward the threshold; specialty brick orders can carry separate fees.
That is an excuse to check your existing wish list, not turn a $30 pumpkin into a $100 shopping cart. I know how this goes.
