If there is a giant jar of peperoncini in your fridge, this is one of those recalls where the lot number matters more than the brand name.

Mezzetta recalled one specific lot of its Golden Greek Peperoncini Medium Heat, 32 oz. after a video circulated on social media showing what the company describes as a potential pest contaminant in a jar.

The FDA-posted company announcement says Mezzetta contacted the consumer and began investigating the product, production records, sanitation and food-safety records.

Check for lot 720106

The recall applies only to:

  • Mezzetta Golden Greek Peperoncini Medium Heat
  • 32 oz. jar
  • SKU 10106328
  • Lot 720106

Mezzetta says no other products or lots are included based on the information currently available.

Do not eat the recalled jar

If your 32-ounce jar matches lot 720106, the company says do not consume it. Contact Mezzetta for assistance through the recall information on the FDA notice or the company’s customer-support channel.

At the time of the recall announcement, Mezzetta said it had received no reports of illness or injury.

The viral video is what triggered the investigation

There are a lot of extremely specific details flying around social media about what was allegedly inside the jar. The official recall language is narrower: Mezzetta says it became aware of a circulating video showing a potential pest contaminant and asked to retrieve and examine the original product.

That distinction matters. The useful part for your kitchen is not guessing what the video shows—it is checking the size and lot number on the jar you actually have.

If yours says 32 oz., SKU 10106328, lot 720106, set it aside and follow the recall instructions. If the lot number is different, Mezzetta says it is not part of this recall based on the current information.
