You Can Spend The Night In A Railroad Caboose In The Middle Of The North Carolina Smoky Mountains
You can go spend the night in a real authentic railroad caboose, right on the banks of North Carolina’s Tuckasegee River, and on the tracks of the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad.
When I was a teenager, my older cousin lived in a railroad caboose, in the middle of the woods.
I thought it was the weirdest thing EVER, until I went and saw it.
SO COOL!! I have always been slightly jealous that he had such an awesome adventure story to tell.
But now, everyone can go experience the fun of staying the night in a caboose car.
Recently featured as one of the top 25 train rental properties, the Cabooses sit right on the banks of the Tuckasegee River and on the tracks of the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad.

You don’t just get to stay in ONE caboose, it’s actually TWO cabooses, in the middle of the North Carolina mountains!!
You have to check out how absolutely beautiful the inside of these caboose cars have been renovated and refurbished!!
They look just like a fancy hotel room, and I totally need to plan a trip!
One of the caboose cars contains the kitchen and sitting area — with full-size amenities (including a coffee maker, woot woot!!), and lots of windows that showcase the gorgeous scenery.
The other caboose car contains the sleeping area — which has a PRIVATE area with a queen-bed.
Just outside the “private bedroom,” there’s also a full-size futon — so the caboose sleeps a total of four people!!
In the sleeping car, you also get a full bathroom, complete with shower and tub.
The cars are connected by a covered porch, so you can walk between them without getting soaked if it rains.
Just outside the double caboose “hotel,” you can relax around a bonfire, or wade in the Tuckasegee River — although wading in the river is at your own risk, so be careful.
Sit on the front porch and watch for Bald Eagles flying over the river. Riverside fire pit and picnic area for roasting hot dogs and marshmellows. A covered BBQ grill area and another picnic table are available for those rainy days.

The cabooses are minutes away from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Harrah’s Cherokee Casino, and the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad.
