Over the past few years, the declining health of Queen Elizabeth II has been worrisome, she has had to cancel many public appearances including the annual commemoration of Britain’s wartime dead.

In fact, due to her declining health and advanced age she had stopped traveling outside of Britain years ago and isn’t seen as much in public.

Prince Charles had stepped in to cover public duties such as the state opening of Parliament.

She even had to skip the majority of the celebrations of the Platinum Jubliee this past June which marked her 70 years on the throne.

Most details of the Queen’s declining health have been kept private and her medical condition has not been announced publicly other than she had recovered from Covid-19 this past February and had mobility issues.

I mean, she was 96, so mobility issues and declining health on top of recovering from Covid-19 is enough to bring anyone at an advanced age down.

The queen has been staying at Balmoral Castle, which is her estate in the Scottish Highlands and she normally spends most of her summer there.

Wednesday evening Queen Elizabeth II was advised by her doctors that she needed to rest and she canceled a virtual meeting with members of her Privy Council.

This morning it was announced that she was deteriorating quickly and doctors were concerned and she was under medical supervision while she remained at Balmoral Castle.

Following further evaluation this morning, the queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended that she remain under medical supervision.

the palace said in a statement

Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Prince William, Andrew and Edward, and Princess Anne all were with the Queen at Balmoral Castle, so she was surrounded by family at her time of passing.

Her passing comes just over a year after her husband, Prince Philip, passed in April of 2021 just before his 100th birthday.

The announcement of her passing was made via Buckingham Palace Instagram saying:

The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.
