Did You Know If You Store Strawberries In A Glass Jar They’ll Last For Weeks?
Y’all I had no clue, I’ve been using the freshen-up trick on strawberries and they normally get eaten pretty fast around here.
I mean, how can you not enjoy this bright red, juicy berry?
However, sometimes there’s a great deal on strawberries and you want to stock up, and while freezing is an option, I don’t want to freeze all of them if I can store them longer in the refrigerator.
I don’t know about you, but I enjoy my fruit and veggies fresh. I think they taste the best.
Now with that being said, I just learned something that is a total game changer…
This woman shared a tip that can make your strawberries last for weeks in the refrigerator and I have got to give it a try and see for myself.
It took me 36 years to find out that if you put strawberries in glass jars, they last forever! these ones, no word of a lie, are over 3 weeks old. From the superstore. I’m lucky if I get them to last 5 days before they start to turn when I buy them from there. I don’t know who else knows this trick but if you don’t, you’re welcome!

When I saw her post on Facebook (which has been shared nearly 270K times), I had to do some research, and apparently, this is a real thing!
I even found a person that did an experiment with three different strawberry storage methods and after 3 weeks the strawberries that were stored in the glass jar were still plump and juicy.
The only thing that had changed really was the color wasn’t as vibrant, 3 weeks!
How To Store Strawberries In A Glass Jar
- Don’t wash the strawberries and do’t remove the stem
- Make sure your jar is clean and completely dry with an airtight lid
- Discard spoiled and bruised strawberries
- Place the jar in the coldest part of the refrigerator
I’m definitely going to give this a go next time I stock up on strawberries that I don’t have to freeze them.
