The New Aladdin Movie Is Either Going To Be Will Smith’s Greatest Movie Of All Time Or A Total Disaster
At first when I heard Will Smith was playing the Genie in the new Aladdin movie, I was super disappointed.
But since watching the new full length trailer, I must admit that I am getting a little excited.
I mean, I even got goosebumps.
Here’s the thing, this is either the role of a lifetime for Will Smith or it’s just awful. This movie is either the greatest thing every to happen, or it’s the worst thing ever.
There is no in between, and I don’t really know how to feel about that.
I am a Disney lover. Aladdin and Beauty & The Beast were the movies I grew up on.
They are on my top ten favorite movies of all time list.
Blasting the TV at full volume, getting up super close and learning every single word of every single song.
Which means I have high hopes for this movie. And I have to admit that Beauty and the Beast fell a little flat for me, so I am hoping Disney brings their A game with Aladdin.
The trailer got me in the feels a little bit though. When Will Smith rapped “Friend Like Me” I was like, “Okay, yeah… this guy knows music, and if he takes his own spin on some of my favorite classics, then I won’t be upset.
He’s also funny as hell. I mean, he’s the Fresh Prince for crying out loud. We laughed along with him growing up, and I think he’s got a real solid chance at knocking this whole Genie thing out of the park.
Genie is such an important part in this movie. I would almost argue that he’s more important than Aladdin himself, just because he’s sort of the driving force BEHIND what Aladdin does. Robin Williams left some VERY BIG shoes to fill, but if anyone can do it, it’s Will Smith.
So, here’s to hoping he rocks this role and impresses the heck out of all of us.
I guess if nothing else, at least I get to spend an afternoon checking out hottie Jafar.
And I’m not mad at that.
