If you checked your freezer when the bettergoods Lemon Alfredo recall first hit in September and your bag did not match the two listed lot codes, check it again.
Gias Foods has now expanded the recall to all lot codes of bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine, according to the October 1 FDA-posted company announcement.
The frozen pasta was distributed nationwide at Walmart stores and may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
Look for this exact yellow 22-ounce bag
The recalled product is the 22 oz bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine in the bright yellow package. The UPC is 194346442706.
The important change is the lot-code language. The September 15 recall named only lots L6079C and L6080C. The October 1 notice says all lot codes are now recalled.
So if you already looked at the back of your bag earlier and decided it was not one of those two lots, that old check is no longer enough.
What to do if you have it
The company says consumers who purchased the recalled pasta should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Questions can be sent to sa***@*******ds.com.
The October 1 announcement says no illnesses had been reported at the time of the notice.
Why the recall expanded
According to the FDA-posted announcement, routine sampling by the Washington State Department of Agriculture and Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services found that finished products may contain the bacteria. Gias Foods says it stopped distributing the product while the investigation continues.
The fastest freezer check is simple: look for the yellow bettergoods Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine bag, confirm the 22-ounce size and UPC 194346442706, and do not rely on the old two-lot list.
