With social distancing happening throughout the U.S. and a lot of Starbucks are closing for the time being, it’s getting harder and harder to get your caffeine fix.

But don’t worry! We are starting a series of posts about how to make some of your Starbucks favorites from home!

First up is a very popular Starbucks drink, the Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew.

Starbucks

Starbucks has a lot of at home options for making Cold Brew. Click Here if you want to purchase Cold Brew K-cups, pre-made bottled Cold Brew, or the Cold Brew at-home pitcher packs through Starbucks.

Starbucks

All of these options are purchasable through the Starbucks website, as well as Amazon, Walmart, and Target.

If you are somehow unable to purchase these or leave the house, the closest thing you can do is brew some double strength coffee at home.

You will need to use double the scoops you normally do (preferably a dark roast), and then let it cool in the refrigerator.

Starbucks

The ingredients to make Sweet Cream are vanilla syrup, 2% milk, and heavy cream. All of these are purchasable at most grocery stores.

To make Sweet Cream, use half a cup of 2%, half a cup of heavy cream, and 3 pumps of vanilla syrup.

To properly make a Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew, start by pumping a few pumps of vanilla in the bottom of your cup.

If you want Starbucks vanilla syrup, they are able to be purchased at Starbucks stores as long as they have enough back stock to make drink. But any brand will do.

Starbucks

Then, add Cold Brew until it fills half of the cup. Add ice, but leave about 2-3 inches at the top for your sweet cream.

Starbucks

Add the sweet cream over the top of your Cold Brew to give it that nice layered look and you have your own Homemade Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew!

  1. So basically you’re using a cup of creamer for just one serving?

  2. Adding heat means it’s not cold brew. The bean should never be heated.

  3. How is it 0 calories of sugar? Is the syrup sugar free? And doesnt the cream have sugar in it?

  4. I didn’t know how much coffee to use so I just did the same amount of sweet cream but came out to strong, would you suggest using a quarter amount of the sweet cream ? I made my own cold brew with gevalia home blend

  5. What if I want to make a bottle of it instead of making enough for one cup each morning? Any idea how long it lasts in the fridge?

  6. How much coffee are blending with the 1/2 cup milk, half cup heavy cream and vanilla

  7. If you take 2% and heavy cream you have half and half

  8. Made the sweet cream came out good. What pre-bottled cold brew tastes the best? I got the Starbucks unsweetened cold brew and it tastes soooo bitter. Any recommendations? Thanks!

    1. @Julie, STOK has good cold brew in a bottle! They sell it at most stores also!

  9. Can you use fat free milk? Or whole milk?

  10. If I were to use the Concentrate Cold Brew bottle from Starbucks, would I add water to dilute? It says add water

    1. Yes! 🙂 The Concentrate Cold Brew is even more concentrated than regular cold brew.. Follow the instructions on the package to make the actual cold brew.

  11. To make the vanilla sweet cream foam, would you just whip up the heavy whipping cream more??

    1. This recipe is for regular vanilla sweet cream. If you are wanting the sweet cream cold foam, that’ll be a bit harder from home. A milk frother would be the easiest route. If you don’t own one, a blender or whisk would be the closest route but it won’t be exact.

      1. do you mix the vanilla syrup, 2% milk, and the heavy cream together? or? i’m a little confused by that???‍♀️

    2. If you get a hand pump you can easily make that foam I learned from ask at Starbucks that you have to use a lower percentage of milk to make it stay foamy … I use 1% for the foam. If you like the salted sweet cream add maple syrup and a sprinkle of salt!

      1. If you don’t have a hand pump do you just mix the cream, milk, and syrup altogether and then pour it over the coffee?

    3. I talked to a few friends who work at Starbucks. While their regular cold foam is different, the vanilla sweet cream cold foam is simply their vanilla sweet cream that is blended until it’s the right consistency. I just use an electric frother to make mine from sweet cream. Comes out perfect, takes about 20 seconds!

  12. Awesome!! How about an Iced Caramel Macchiato? 🙂
