It’s Official, Netflix Is Putting An End to Sharing. Here’s What You Need To Know.
It’s happening, people.
Netflix is about to bring the heat and put an end to free account sharing.
There has been back and forth debate — is it happening, is it not — for the better part of a year.
But, Netflix officially announced, in a statement to shareholders, that they are moving to a paid sharing platform.
In Q1, we launched paid sharing in four countries and are pleased with the results. We are planning on a broad rollout, including in the US, in Q2.

What Does this mean for you?
Basically, your paid membership pays for the people living in your household.
A Netflix account is meant to be shared in one household (people who live in the same location with the account owner). People who are not in your household will need to sign up for their own account to watch Netflix.

If you want to share the password to your account, you will have the option to upgrade your paid subscription — pay a higher price.
This will allow you to piggyback TWO more people onto your Netflix account.
You might be thinking, “How will they even know?”
Y’all. This is 2023, there are ways.
Now, according to Yahoo, Netflix says that the PRIMARY account holder will still be able to watch Netflix on their phone or on smart TVs in places like hotels.
BUT, if you are using someone else’s Netflix password, and want the ability to be mobile with your Netflix watching, you will need to transfer to your own paid membership.
Incidentally, in February, Netflix rolled out this new no-sharing policy in Canada, New Zealand, Portugal, and Spain.
So, we know it’s possible for Netflix to track who is using each shared password.
What do you think? Is this move to paid password sharing going to affect the way you binge watch Netflix?
