RAYE just walked onto the VMA stage and somehow made the entire show feel like it had time-traveled.
She performed “I Will Overcome” and “Where Is My Husband?” at the 2026 MTV VMAs, and the whole thing leaned hard into a glamorous, vintage look.
Billboard described the performance as a throwback-style set, which is honestly exactly what it felt like.
RAYE performed two songs
The set moved through “I Will Overcome” and “Where Is My Husband?,” giving her one of the more distinctive performances of the night.
On a show full of giant staging, surprise cameos and complete chaos, RAYE somehow stood out by making everything feel more controlled.
The whole thing looked intentionally old-school
The styling and performance leaned into a vintage aesthetic instead of trying to out-weird the rest of the VMAs.
And honestly, that worked.
There is something extremely satisfying about watching everybody else throw the entire production department at the screen and then having RAYE walk in and make the room stop with a voice and a vibe.
