Sienna Spiro is a British singer-songwriter who came into the show as one of seven Best New Artist nominees.
Then she walked away with the Moon Person.
The category also included Bella Kay, CORTIS, Magnus Ferrell, Malcolm Todd, Myles Smith, and Stella Lefty, so this was not a ceremonial little welcome gift.
Her VMA debut made the timing perfect
The VMAs announced Spiro as a first-time nominee and first-time performer, giving a lot of viewers their first proper introduction to her.
On this particular VMA night, letting the song and her voice do the work almost felt rebellious.
