Okay, I know there are actual awards happening, but can we talk about Taylor Swift’s face for one second?
Taylor showed up to the 2026 VMAs without her signature red lipstick and classic winged liner.
And the difference is weirdly dramatic.
Taylor swapped the red lip for muted pink
Instead of the bright red lip we have basically come to expect from Taylor at this point, she wore a much softer muted pink shade.
Her eye makeup changed too.
People reports that she went with a double-liner look instead of her usual single cat-eye wing, which made the whole thing feel slightly more graphic and way less retro.
It matched the whole Patient Zero vibe
The makeup worked with her black-and-silver Tamara Ralph Couture gown, which was also being connected to the visual world around her new “Patient Zero” era.
So this does not exactly feel like somebody forgot to pack the red lipstick.
It feels intentional.
And honestly, after years of instantly recognizing Taylor by the red lip and winged eye alone, seeing her switch both at the same time is kind of jarring in the best way.
