‘The Princess Bride’ Is Getting A Remake Starring Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner and It Actually Sounds Fun
The Princess Bride just doesn’t seem like a movie that anyone should be messing with. A remake of a cult classic with a huge following? Do you really want to go there? Read on for my plot twist…
By the way, you can get this super awesome movie poster for The Princess Bride from PostersgaloreGB on Etsy!
Honestly, sometimes I am ok with continuations, but to take a movie that is perfection and remake it just seems so wrong. The Princess Bride came out in 1987 and I can’t even tell you how many times I have watched it. I can say it is a LOT and probably more than most people.
Apparently it is getting a DIY makeover from some big names in Hollywood…I want to scream at them to stay in their lane and maybe come up with something, I dunno… something NEW?
Here comes the plot twist I was talking about…
BUT, after reading a bit about it, it isn’t a remake in the typical way we normally get. This is a project by Jason Reitman, the director of Juno (I love Juno!). It has been shot completely at-home with each cast member using their phones.
I guess you can look at this as a fan-made movie? Starting on June 29th they will release chapters of the movie every day for two weeks. Actors will be “paying homage” to The Princess Bride in their own ways.
Rob Reiner, who directed the original movie, will play “The Grandfather” and Fred Savage will come back to his original role as “The Grandson,”! So that is sort of fun right?
I was also pleasantly pleased to read that they will be using a Corgi (floof butt) to play the “Rodent of Unusual Size” from the original movie and that makes me laugh a good bit! Also, for crowd scenes, you can expect to see stuffed animals and lego people!
Here is an incomplete list of who you can expect to see in this fun project!
- Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner
- Common and Tiffany Haddish
- Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka
- Chris Pine and Annabelle Wallis
- Hugh Jackman
- Jennifer Garner
- Elijah Wood
- Jon Hamm
- Beanie Feldstein
- Lucas Hedges
- Jenna Ortega
- Jack Black
- David Oyelowo
- Keegan-Michael Key
- Patton Oswalt
- Josh Gad
- Andy Serkis

This project is actually for a good cause, Quibi donated $1 million in the name of the project to chef José Andrés’ charity World Central Kitchen. They provide meals to people that have been most by the coronavirus pandemic. So that’s cool and honestly, I’m pretty ready to see this happen.
You can start watching it this Monday, June 29th on QUIBI! Are you down for it? I totally am!
