The ‘Labyrinth’ Sequel Is Officially Happening And I’m So Excited
Y’all! It’s the return of Labyrinth! Are you ready for it?
I’m going to have to pull the original movie out and rewatch it with the kids! It has been over 30 years since it came out!
It wasn’t that long ago that I wrote about this dad that made Labyrinth dolls for his daughter. It totally rekindled my interest in the movie and it has been a few tears since I have watched it.
Scott Derrickson, the director of Doctor Strange will be directing the long-awaited sequel of Labyrinth!
He will be directing the film for TriStar Pictures. It’s been reported that Maggie Levin will be writing the script. She also wrote “Into the Dark: My Valentine”.
The Jim Henson Company’s Lisa Henson will be the producer of the Labyrinth sequel and Brian Henson will be the executive producer. That is super cool that Kim Henson’s children are involved with this!
The original Labyrinth movie came out in 1986 and is a serious cult classic! David Bowie starred in it as the Jareth the Goblin King, and man, was he perfect for the role! Jennifer Connelly also starred in Labyrinth and she did a fantastic job with her role.
If you have never watched the movie, please do! Jennifer Connelly plays a character named Sarah, a teenager. Her baby brother Toby had been taken by the Jareth the Goblin King (Bowie) after she had “wished” him away. She has to go on a crazy journey involving a maze in his castle and all sorts of strangeness to get him back.
If you love musical movies, this one is definitely for you! I am so sad that David Bowie will not be a part of this sequel. David Bowie passed away in 2016, he was 69 years old. He was so talented!
A reboot was mentioned back in 2016, but no dates or details were ever given. We were all just left hanging! Well, now we have been thrown a bone to hold us over a little longer.
There has been no mention of the plot of the new movie, or the casting. I wonder if there will be a new Goblin King, or if someone will take over the character of Jared as the Goblin King? I need to know more information on this!
