Chipotle Has A Nurse That Calls Sick Employees To Make Sure They Aren’t Hungover

Have you ever been too hungover to go to work the next day? Well, that would be a problem if you worked for Chipotle.

They actually have a nurse that will call you to see if you are really sick, or just a bit too hungover to make it to work.

This sounds slightly awful, but there is a reason.

You might remember several years ago, Chipotle got in a bit of hot water for spreading the norovirus to part of Virginia.

The chain restaurant was not enforcing their sick policy, and several employees were allowed to work sick. They infected several customers of the Mexican Grill restaurant with the norovirus.

Chipotle is NOT about to make that same mistake twice! They have the nurse call to guarantee safe and healthy conditions for workers and patrons, alike.

According to CEO, Brian Niccol:

We have nurses on call, so that if you say, ‘Hey, I’ve been sick,’ you get the call into the nurse — The nurse validates that it’s not a hangover — you’re really sick — and then we pay for the day off to get healthy again.

The Nurse Policy is just to make sure everyone stays nice and healthy.

After the norovirus scare, Chipotle restaurants have even taken to using special cleaners that kill the virus on contact.

They truly want to make sure their food is fresh, and their restaurants are completely clean.

I’m okay with that! Keep your sick employees home, and away from my food.

By the way, have you tried Chipotle’s queso? OMG! Do yourself a favor, and get some on the side, with a bag of chips! You’re welcome.
