I like to EAT chicken. I prefer the boneless, skinless breast variety, but if it’s shredded, I’ll eat whatever you give me.
There’s one thing I HATE, though, and that’s shredding that chicken by hand.
You know, when you take 2 forks, and then lose then next half hour of your life to trying to shreddin’ the meat into something that looks like it goes in a taco or on top of nachos.
There is a TikTok life hack going around that shows how to quickly shred chicken, and it’s genius.
I have actually been doing this for a few years, but when I saw the posts on TikTok, I realized that maybe not everyone knows this hack.
All you do is cook up your boneless skinless meat. I like to use the Instant Pot, because it makes it so fast and easy. I mean, you can have completely done chicken in 20 minutes!
Then you need to put that cooked chicken meat into a bowl with kind of big sides — because there is about to be flying chicken pieces. A big mixing bowl works GREAT.
Now, you have two choices here. I use a hand mixer, but you can also use a a fancy-pantsy mechanical one, if that’s your jam.
Hold onto the bowl tight. Turn your mixer on, and just press it into one of the chicken pieces. Instantly shreds it.
Now, there are a couple of things you need to be careful of. The chicken will be HOT. I have burned myself too many times doing the chicken shredding this way. You may want to wait until it cools off a bit, before you tackle the shredding.
You also want to keep your hair CLEAR of the spinning whisks. They can pull your hair out, very quickly, by the root. It hurts like hades, and you don’t want to do it.
Also, keep your fingers clear of the spinning whisks. I can imagine the pain, and possible broken bones in your fingers that could come from getting your fingers jammed in those spinners!
After you have that chicken shredded, you can use it on SO many things. Chicken nachos, chicken tacos, chicken sliders, chicken spaghetti — really, just about chicken ANYTHING.
