Most of us have either moved for a job in the past, or are planning to move for one in the future.

But typically when we plan on moving for a 9-5, it’s up to the person getting the job offer to make that decision, but apparently Apple doesn’t look at it the same way.

Apple headquarters are currently trying to force some of their employees to move out of state in order to keep their job… crazy, right?

According to Bloomberg, the tech giant has given 121 Apple employees who are working in San Diego, California an ultimatum to move over 1,200 miles.

And that ultimatum Apple recited to its own employees is to either move to Texas or lose their job.

Due to Apple’s San Diego store closing down and relocating to Austin, Texas, a slew of Apple workers now need to decide if they should pack their bags in order to keep their job.

The affected employees had until the end of last February to make their decision and for those who decide to not relocate, will reportedly be terminated on April 26.

The team who has been asked to move to The Lone Star State were responsible for analyzing questions given to Apple’s voice assistant Siri, and seeing how well the AI assistant handled the response.

Now while many Californians are jumping at the chance to move to Texas, most of the affected workers at Apple don’t feel the same.

In fact, most of the workers that are being asked to move feel unwilling to relocate to Austin Bloomberg reports.

For the individuals who decide to not make the big move, Apple is giving those employees four weeks of severance and an additional week for every year worked.

Plus they’ll also get six months of health insurance.

However, the employees who relocate to Austin by the end of June will receive $7,000 stipends for packing their suitcases.
