David Arquette Will Play Dewey Riley Again In The New Scream Movie and I’m So Excited

There is a new Scream movie in the works! This will be number 5 in the series! Are there really that many? I know I have watched them all, I just didn’t think there were already 4!

The best part? David Arquette will be back to play Dewey Riley! He is by far the BEST character in all of the movies and he has been in ALL of them.

I am thrilled to be playing Dewey again and to reunite with my Scream family, old and new. Scream has been such a big part of my life, and for both the fans and myself, I look forward to honoring Wes Craven’s legacy.

Neve Campbell has reportedly also confirmed that she will be back as Sidney Prescott, which is super cool as well! I can not remember the last time I saw her in anything.

I can not find any confirmation for Courteney Cox on whether or not she will reprise her role as Gale Weathers.

This new Scream movie will be coming from Spyglass Media Group. Matt Bettineelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett from the Radio Silence filmmaking group will be directing the movie.

It is sad that Wes Craven isn’t here for this one and I sure hope these guys can pull it off!

The new Scream movie will be written by James Vanderbilt of Murder Mystery and Zodiac, and Guy Busick of Ready or Not and Castle.

It’s impossible to fully express how much Wes Craven’s work and the Scream movies, in particular, mean to us as fans and have influenced us as storytellers. Kevin Williamson’s incredible stories have entertained and inspired us for decades and we’re insanely honored to have the opportunity to be a part of the cinematic world Wes and Kevin so brilliantly created together. Jamie and Guy’s amazing script does that legacy justice and we’re so excited to bring the next chapter of Scream to life.

So far there isn’t a release date for the new Scream movie. It will be filming later this year. Filming will be in Wilmington, North Carolina!
