A Stranger Things prequel is coming, so get ready!

We are about to bid adieu to Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, Max, Nancy, and Steve, but there are even more Stranger Things stories to be told.

It’s all going to start with the prequel to the story we know and love.

This prequel is going to be set almost 30 years before the OG show, so we will get to see the early lives of Hopper, Joyce, Bob, Dr. Brenner, and even Henry Creel — otherwise known as Vecna.

This is going to be so great!

Check out the details for Stranger Things: The First Shadow below.

What We Know About Stranger Things: The First Shadow

This prequel is going to be in a different format than we have become accustomed to.

Stranger Things: The First Shadow is going to be a stage play, but hear me out before you tune out.

Hawkins, 1959: a regular town with regular worries. Young Jim Hopper’s (Lloyd) car won’t start, Bob Newby’s (Buckley) sister (Williams) won’t take his radio show seriously and Joyce Maldonado (Pappas) just wants to graduate and get the hell out of town. When new student Henry Creel (McCartney) arrives, his family finds that a fresh start isn’t so easy … and the shadows of the past have a very long reach

Play Synopsis

This Stranger Things play will have an entirely new cast, and will focus on the early lives of some of our favorite characters.

It is written by Kate Trefry, a current writer and producer on Stranger Things — so she knows the dynamic of the show pretty well, and can keep its creepiness and authenticity.

It’s a joy to discover the world of Stranger Things: The First Shadow with our ferociously talented cast and watch the alchemy amongst our entire company grow as we together explore this new play — They’re an extraordinarily gifted group of actors, and we can’t wait to share this origin story with audiences.

Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin, co-directors Stranger Things: The First Shadow

The play will officially open at The Phoenix Theater on the West End in London on December 14.
