Frozen Fruit Has Been Recalled at Several Stores. Here’s What You Need to Know.

If you like a good tropical flavored fruit smoothie in the mornings, you might want to skip it this time.

It seems like certain frozen fruit sold at Walmart, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Target, Aldi and AWG has been recalled for concerns of listeria contamination.

You want to stop using it immediately.

The source of the listeria contamination is tainted pineapple that was provided by a third party supplier.

Bummer. I love a good pineapple in my smoothies — or thrown into my adult summer beverages — but maybe I’ll pass on the tropical fruit for a bit.

It is important to note that some of the frozen fruit does not physically contain pineapple, but may have come in contact with the contaminated fruit.

Now, this fruit has been circulating for a while. It has been sold in stores since the fall of 2022, so check your freezers carefully.

Listeria can cause a multitude of symptoms from fever, to headaches, to diarrhea.

Healthy individuals may suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

If you have a weakened immune system, listeria can cause a lot more trouble for you.

Listeria can cause serious illnesses in the very young, elderly, and those with weakened immune symptoms. It can even lead to death, so you want to be very careful with this recall.

No illnesses have been reported with this recall, but better safe than sorry!

However, if you have had this fruit, and you’ve experienced any symptoms, you want to see your doctor immediately.

According to the FDA website, the fruit was distributed to the following stores:
