Jack Skellington gets the headline, but Oogie Boogie and Zero are doing plenty this Halloween, too. There are Dreamlight Valley quests to untangle, a letter you can mail to the Pumpkin King, and a chocolate-and-fondant Halloween Town that took more than 800 hours to make.
Here’s where to start with The Nightmare Before Christmas in 2026, whether you want something to play, make, see or put on a shelf.
Pick your kind of Halloween Town fun
- Playing Dreamlight Valley? Start with the Oogie Boogie and Zero unlock guide, then use the separate Week 2 walkthrough below.
- Planning an October activity? Jack’s letter program has an October 16 mailing deadline. The Dreamlight Valley festival and Trick or Treat have different start dates.
- Shopping for Jack, Sally or Oogie? The Disney Store picks below include three orderable listings and one sold-out pin pack as of October 1. Check the individual item before buying.
- Making something yourself? There’s a tiny cross-stitch kit and an Oogie Boogie costume project further down.
Oogie Boogie and Zero in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Oogie Boogie is the reward at the end of a six-week quest series, so finishing the first challenge does not immediately make him a villager. Zero is a permanent companion reward along the way. Our unlock guide explains the prerequisites and full schedule.
Already on Week 2? Go straight to The Oogie Boogie Contract walkthrough. That quest released September 30; the next one, The Ghost in the Portrait, is scheduled for October 7.
One date worth keeping: Gameloft says to begin the first Oogie Boogie quest before November 4. Starting in time lets you finish the remaining quests at your own pace.
The October events have their own dates
The Haunted Floating Festival runs October 7–31. Trick or Treat runs October 14–31, with candy at pumpkin-marked homes and Halloween Town exterior decorations among the rewards. Our Dreamlight Valley Halloween events guide separates the two, so the November quest deadline doesn’t sneak onto your trick-or-treat calendar.
Mail Jack Skellington a letter by October 16
The Pumpkin King has a mailing address. Tulare Parks & Recreation’s Letters to Jack Skellington program asks for a self-addressed, stamped envelope so a reply can find its way back.
Our Jack Skellington letter guide has the address, envelope instructions and October 16, 2026 mailing deadline. Leave yourself time for the mail; this one takes a little more planning than pressing send.
A Nightmare Before Christmas display at Disneyland Resort
Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa has Jack, Sally and Zero on Spiral Hill, with Oogie Boogie and the Mayor nearby. The pastry team spent more than 800 hours on the confection, according to Disney’s hotel Halloween guide. That is a very serious commitment to spooky season.
See the Grand Californian Nightmare Before Christmas display for the details. Check current hotel access before making a trip, and keep the display separate from activities reserved for overnight guests.
A light-up Jack popcorn bucket for movie night
The light-up Jack Skellington popcorn bucket wears a Sandy Claws hat you lift to reach the snacks. Our guide covers Swan Drive-In’s online listing, the 85-ounce capacity and the dimensions to check before giving him a permanent spot on your shelf.
Jack Skellington merchandise to check at Disney Store
Availability checked October 1, 2026: the MagicBand+, light-up pumpkin and deluxe figure set showed an Add to Bag option. The mystery pin pack showed Sold Out. Stock and prices can change, so use the exact product links rather than assuming the whole collection is available.
Jack Skellington and Sally MagicBand+
The Jack and Sally MagicBand+ has both characters on the strap and Jack on the tappable icon. This is the park-accessory option; check Disney’s current compatibility and admission requirements before choosing it for a trip.
A tiny light-up Jack pumpkin
The 4 1/2-inch Nightmare Before Christmas pumpkin is small enough for a shelf rather than a front-yard takeover. It has off, on and pulsing settings, is made for indoor use, and uses three included AAA batteries.
Eight Halloween Town figures in one box
The deluxe figure set brings together Jack, Sally, Zero, the Mayor, Lock, Shock, Barrel and Oogie Boogie. Its double-tiered display box gives the crew a Halloween Town backdrop. This is the straightforward choice if you want the characters together instead of chasing blind packs.
Restock watch: the mystery pins
The Nightmare Before Christmas mystery pin pack contains two random pins from eight designs, including Oogie Boogie and Zero. It was sold out at the October 1 check. A blind pack also means you cannot choose which characters you get.
Jack and Sally outfits, plus a little Zero
Crowned Athletics’ Nightmare Before Christmas collection puts Jack and Sally on activewear, with Zero accessories in the mix. Our Jack and Sally outfit breakdown walks through the pieces and matching-set costs recorded in September. Check the merchant’s current price and your selected size before building the whole outfit.
Nightmare Before Christmas crafts and costume ideas
For a small stitching project: the Jack Skellington cross-stitch kit guide explains the box’s slightly sneaky detail: four patterns, but only three pieces of fabric and one hoop. The designs include Jack, Jack with Sally, and Zero. Plan extra supplies if you want to make and display them all.
For Oogie Boogie costume inspiration: our 2020 Oogie Boogie costume story follows LinzMushel’s project and includes the materials list and original video. This is an archive craft idea, with a costume to build rather than one to add to a shopping cart.
