News just broke that James Michael Tyler, Who Played Gunther In “Friends,” Has DiedJames Michael Tyler AKA Gunther In “Friends” Has Died. He was just 59 years old.
I was hoping he would go into remission by some miracle after his cancer diagnosis was announced during the Friends reunion several months back.
James was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer in September 2018.
According to his manager, he died peacefully in his home in Los Angeles.
“The world knew him as Gunther, the seventh ‘Friend,’ from the hit series Friends, but Michael’s loved ones knew him as an actor, musician, cancer-awareness advocate, and loving husband,” his manager said.
