Selling a house right now…

So, we are of course FINALLY ready to sell our house and move into something bigger and better, and what happens… the stock market plummets, banks everywhere close their doors… and Bush goes on TV and scares the crap out of everyone, basically telling us all that America is going to hell in a handbasket and we should stock up on canned food.  (That’s what you all got out of his little speech, right?)

So, the question here is, do we put our house on the market?

We don’t know what to do here, we have paid our mortgage on time, we have good credit, and are pre-approved for a loan, if we sell our house right now, there is a chance we could end up in something way nicer for less money than we actually paid for this house, but the question is, is it the right move?  I mean sure we are pre-approved now, but could that change?

The thing is that right now my family has a home in a good neighborhood, It isn’t huge, but it has plenty of bedrooms and living areas.  We live in a good community with good schools, plenty of activities for our kid, and we have lots of friends in the area.  All in all, our home has suited us well all these years, but we want to move more into the Fort Worth area and out of the Dallas area.  There is no reason for us to be living so close to everything right now.  My husband works from home, and I am a stay at home mom, so there is no commute we need to worry about.  We really want to move closer to our parents, and we just want to be in a different area.  We have picked out our desired area, but now we are SCARED!  The finanical industry is in such turmoil that I don’t know if now is a good time to buy a house!  Ugh…. what to do what to do…
