Move over Jersey Mike’s. Subway is coming for ya!!

Subway has announced that they are no longer going to serve pre-sliced lunch meats, and I’m shook — in a good way.

They’ve been doing it the same since — well — as long as I can remember. Probably before.

The delish sub sandwich shop is in the process of installing automatic meat slicers in all of their stores, and this is going to be a game changer.

How do you make a sub sandwich even better? Freshly slice the meat!!

This is the latest move in Subway’s effort to move forward with their “Eat Fresh” campaign, and I’m definitely for this move, 100%.

We were one of the few, if only, sub shop that didn’t slice in restaurant. Not only does it give the guest a better perception of seeing the nice, fluffy meat, but we save a lot of money since we were paying a lot of money to have it sliced upstream.

According to Today, Subway employees are going to batch slice the meat first thing in the morning and then again in the afternoon.

So, it will still appear that they are still serving pre-sliced meat, but it’s actually been sliced the same day.

As part of Subway’s ongoing transformation journey, we are rolling out deli meat slicers to restaurants across the U.S., elevating the quality of our protein offerings even further — Our goal is to have freshly sliced meats in all U.S. restaurants by summer 2023.
