Ok, so when I stay in an Airbnb, I totally clean up after myself… but would I move the lawn?

The answer to that is a big ‘ole NOPE!

Some Airbnbs are requiring chores such as taking out the garbage, doing the laundry, and even mowing the lawn… and this is on top of the $125 up to $375 cleaning fees.

Lawncare y’all… while I’m on vacation? I think not.

Travelers are starting to fight back by not renting these locations and are posting about it on social media.

In my opinion, if you are charged a cleaning fee, especially a high one, then why would you also be expected to do actual chores?

Seems like a strange response given the premium being paid for staying here (to me, at least), but if that’s standard then I’ll roll with it. I just don’t want to be penalized/charged/poorly reviewed for ‘neglecting’ the lawn if I don’t do it.

When you stay in a hotel you pay your nightly fee and that’s it.

I understand that there are some crappy people out there that will trash a place… I get that, but what I don’t get is requiring actual chores beyond picking up after yourself.

Also as a guest, I’m not sure I’m entirely comfortable knowing that a guest may have said they cleaned the place and the owner not actually having it clean.

How do you feel about this? Would you mow the lawn at an Airbnb that you rented for vacation?
