Ashton Kutcher Is Resigning As Chairman Of The Anti-Sex Abuse Foundation He Co-Founded
Ashton Kutcher is stepping down from his position as Chairman of Thorn, the anti-child sex abuse organization he co-founded with ex wife Demi Moore back in 2009.
Why? Because of the public backlash he continues to get over that character witness letter he wrote the judge in the Danny Masterson rape case.
After the letters were made public, Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis issued an apology over Instagram trying to explain their decision to support Masterson, but the public was having none of it.
Ashton addressed the situation in a letter to the Thorn board on September 14th.
Victims of sexual abuse have been historically silenced and the character statement I submitted is yet another painful instance of questioning victims who are brave enough to share their experiences.
Ashton Kutcher
After my wife and I spent several days of listening, personal reflection, learning, and conversations with survivors and the employees and leadership at Thorn, I have determined the responsible thing for me to do is resign as Chairman of the Board, effectively immediately.

I cannot allow my error in judgment to distract from our efforts and the children we serve.
Ashton Kutcher
The mission must always be the priority and I want to offer my heartfelt apology to all victims of sexual violence and everyone at Thorn who I hurt by what I did.
Ashton Kutcher
And to the broader advocacy community, I am deeply sorry. I remain proud of what we have accomplished in the past decade and will continue to support Thorn’s work. Thank you for your tireless advocacy and dedication to this cause.
Ashton Kutcher
Ashton has been a long-time advocate for children affected by sexual abuse, and even testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee about the horrific conditions he’s seen as part of his work with Thorn.
As for Mila Kunis, she is stepping down from her role as an observer on the Thorn board.
