Here’s What Debris Officials Say They Found Near the Site of the Missing Titanic Sub
A debris field was found near the near the Titanic submersible search area according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
What we don’t know is what everyone is asking, is the debris field connected to the missing submersible?
The U.S. Coast Guard must go through a verification process to determine whether or not the recently found debris field is related to the missing vessel according to Maximilian Cremer, the director of the Ocean Technology Group at the University of Hawaii Marine Center who told CNN.
In an interview with Dana Bash, Cremer recently mentioned that he would “not be surprised to find a debris field near the wreck of the Titanic,” he explained to CNN’s Dana Bash.
“I would have to see what it actually is,” he continued, adding that he’s unsure if the search vehicle transmits video.

Bash then asked Cremer in the same interview if it was important to note that the U.S. Coast Guard made a point to mention the debris field find.
“It could tell me that somebody saw something within the debris that they have, I guess, on camera or on sonar, that lets them assume that it might not be from the Titanic, that it might be from the stricken vessel,” Cremer said.

“I’m sure they’re now going through a verification process to see if it is actually associated with the stricken sub,” he added.

The U.S. Coast Guard has also recently announced that a press briefing will soon be held at 3 p.m. Eastern Time.
Here’s hoping we know more information soon and fingers crossed that the briefing has some good news.
