Nobody At My Children’s School Wears A Mask And I’m Not Sure How I Feel
Nobody at my kids’ school wears masks, and I’m just not sure how to feel about that.
There is exactly ONE other family (besides ours) that masks up before school, but that’s it. Not one teacher wears a mask. Not one student wears a mask. Volunteers don’t wear masks. You get where I’m going with this.
Now, I get that kids wearing masks is hard. The thought of my kids wearing their masks for 6 1/2 hours a day is not all giggles and grins.
BUT, we are quickly becoming a Hot Spot again for COVID, and I really don’t want my family to get it!
Social distancing isn’t happening. They are sharing computers and school supplies. And, not one person seems to care about it.
I’m not blaming the school, per say. I LOVE their school. But, I wish something was being done to proactively keep the virus at bay.
We are told that nobody at the school has yet to test positive, but if they get a case, they will let us know.
That’s great. Do something AFTER the fact.
But, are kids even getting sick?
There have been plenty of sick kids ALREADY that have had to miss days of school. I can guaran-dang-tee you that those parents didn’t have their kids tested. We wouldn’t know if they HAD the virus.
Let me say this, I WANT my kids to lead normal lives. I WANT them to be able to play with friends. I WANT them to be able to live without constantly thinking about a virus that may or maynot infect their family.
But, this is the world we currently live in. It’s only going to get worse before it gets better. AND, if people don’t get the vaccine and mask up, it’s NEVER going to get better (IMHO).
I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but at this point, it’s really a problem of WHEN they get the virus, not IF they get the virus.
I just want my kids to be safe. I want my family to be safe. I don’t want to be the reason that my 93-year-old grandfather (who lives with my parents) gets the virus. He WON’T make it through to the other side.
So, do I think masks in school are important? Hells to the yes.
I don’t want the kids to suffer, but it’s either be inconvenienced by the mask now or deal with the virus when it ravages through our family.
I choose to send my kids to school in masks.
