How many times have you reached for your ice cream from the freezer and open it only to find this…

Yup, it’s hard as a rock and totally freezer-burned. UGH.

While it’s certainly still safe to eat, it isn’t nearly as good. It’s not creamy and it has those hard crystals and it’s just BLEH.

Well, turns out, we’ve all been storing our ice cream in the freezer WRONG our entire lives and my life now feels like a lie.

Why?

Well, according to Ben & Jerry’s, there are several ways to ensure your ice cream is ready for enjoyment every time. One of those being that you should be storing your ice cream UPSIDE DOWN. Yes, with the lid on the bottom.

Apparently by doing this, it causes the melted ice cream to drip onto the lid where it has less chance of ruining the still-cold portion.

Other tips include; storing your ice cream in the back of your freezer, use a knife to cut the frozen ice cream rather than scoop it, and flatten a layer of wax paper, parchment paper, or plastic wrap against the ice cream’s surface before replacing the lid.

Interesting, right?

Who knew that storing ice cream was so technical? But I mean, if you want fresh, creamy ice cream every time, these tips are worth a try!
