If you’ve been spending any amount of time on social media lately, then you’ve probably heard many people talking about Beyoncé’s ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’.

People either love it or they hate it and they want to be sure that everyone knows.

The other argument is that people think that Beyoncé might have taken some liberties with the theme song for ‘Franklin’…

Yeah, that one… the kid’s show with the turtle.

Honestly, all “NEW COUNTRY” sounds the same to me. Don’t get me wrong, I like country music, but it has to be old-style country.

Of course, now that people have said that ‘Texas Hold ‘Em‘ sounds like the ‘Franklin‘ theme song I hear it and I know it’s just because they put the dang thought in my head.

Is it a straight-up copy? Nah, I don’t think so. As I said, it sounds like many other newer country songs in my opinion.

Thankfully, PEOPLE took the question to the composer of the theme from ‘Franklin’ and he had some things to say…

I think Beyoncé’s ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ is a good record. Unfortunately, I can’t claim to have had any part in writing it. The rhythmic feel is similar to my theme song for the ‘Franklin’ TV series, but to my ears, that’s where the similarity stops.

Bruce Cockburn told the PEOPLE

So, what do y’all think?
