If you are a parent of a teen, you need to know about this!

For a few weeks now there has been a TikTok Challenge going around. Basically, it’s an app that people download, get random GPA coordinates and then follow those in order to have weird/strange/unexplainable things happen.

While this may be fun for adults, it’s actually pretty scary for kids and teens.

The app is called Randonautica and until recently, I had no idea what it even was. My 28 year old brother actually told me about it and it’s freaked me out enough to NOT ever download it.

Randonautica is an app that sends you on a random adventure to explore the world around you. All you have to do is share your location, set an intention, and follow directions to a random point that the app generates for you. There, the theory is, you will find something relevant to your intention.

It sounds harmless enough BUT there have been video after video of weird and scary things happening. In one instance, a group of kids actually found a dead body in a suitcase. Yeah, that is just – awful.

But the biggest issue is that the app requires you to give them full access to your location. So yes, your teens whereabouts are known to the app and whoever is behind it.

this just happened in aurora colorado. please do not go randonauting, you never know what you’re going to come across. ##randonautica

This app requests your child’s location upon download and then sends them to unknown and unsafe destinations. Teens across the country are documenting their “Randonauting” on Tik Tok and sharing it with the world.

Teens have no idea where they are being sent or who they are being sent to. This is another way perpetrators can gain access to children with ease.

Your kids could end up going somewhere unsafe or even be followed, kidnapped or worse.

The video below shows two people being followed by guys in masks. Ugh NOPE.

Bottom line is – this seems like a pretty creepy app all around. Parents need to be aware of it so they can talk with their kids and ask them to never use it.

While it may be all fun and games for some, I wouldn’t take a chance with my kids doing something like this.
