‘Schoolhouse Rock’ Is Coming To Disney+ and I Am So Excited
Now this is a show that takes me back! Like way way back! First ‘Fraggle Rock‘, now ‘Schoolhouse Rock’? What?
Growing up this was something that we watched all of the time. Yea, I am THAT old. I loved it though because it was fun and I learned stuff from it. It was much more fun than school.
In fact the songs still pop in my head many years later! Like out of the blue I’ll start singing “I’m Just a Bill”. I still know all of the words!
I’m just a bill.
Yes, I’m only a bill.
And I’m sitting here on Capitol Hill.
Well, it’s a long, long journey
To the capital city.
It’s a long, long wait
While I’m sitting in committee,
But I know I’ll be a law someday
At least I hope and pray that I will,
But today I am still just a bill.
Or my favorite, “Them Not-So-Dry Bones”! Man I love this stuff!
Bones are heard of, but seldom seen,
‘Cept each year ’round Hallowe’en.
But I’ve got a shockeroo
Right now there’s a skeleton locked up inside of you!
The cool thing about “Schoolhouse Rock” was how easy it was to remember things because of the songs!
Songs just click better for some of us and our brains retain that information better and it is easier to dig it up later. Even many many years later!
On June 19th, season one of “Schoolhouse Rock” will be available on Disney+ for streaming! Episodes are short so you don’t have to worry about your kids losing interest. Plus, you can sit down with them. I bet you’ll be surprised what comes back to you from it!
These episodes aired every Saturday morning, AKA cartoon day! They played on ABC starting in 1973! I was born in 1974 and I remember everything about this show. We also watched them in school quit often.
Right now there is no word on if they will play the other seasons as well, but it is super cool to see that Disney+ is doing this. Even if it only lasts for one season.
I loved this when i was growing up. I did not realize at the time that i was learning. When i times something by 3. Even now I have to sing the song in my head. 3,6,9,12,15,18,21,24,27,30. It is the only way i can do it. They are fun, attention grapping, and you remember them. Whoever came up with this was brilliant! They made learning fun and easy.
I bought my sister a dvd of school house rocks a few years ago. I was suprised how many i had forgotten.
