Drive-in movie theaters have such a nostalgic feel. Unfortunately I’ve never been, but thanks to Walmart, I may get to experience one!

Walmart understands that the summer of 2020, is much different than previous summers we’ve experienced. According to a press release, Janey Whiteside, chief customer office of Walmart stated,

“Summer hasn’t really felt like summer yet, and I know I hear every day, ‘Mom, I’m bored!’” Janey Whiteside, chief customer officer, Walmart said. “Through our digital means and vast footprint of stores, we’re hoping to bring some summer fun to families across the country. We know Walmart plays a role in our communities that extends far beyond getting them necessary supplies, and we see that now more than ever.”

Well said, Walmart basically hit the nail on the head and they’re correct! Families are quarantined, there’s a lot less travel going on, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make the most out of the few months we have off!

Starting in August, Walmart announced through a press release, that the company will be converting 160 of its parking lots into drive-in movie theaters!

Across the country, there will be a combined total of 320 showings for all individuals who are missing the big screen and movie theater popcorn.

Included in this experience, Walmart will providing special appearances from filmmakers and celebrities, concessions delivered to customer vehicles and trending movies!

Walmart stated that families and friends can order their drive-in essentials online, for curbside pickup!

Walmart is also partnering with Tribeca Enterprises, which means if you live in Florida, Texas, California or New York, you can visit their drive-in movie theaters starting today!

“Drive-Ins have been a signature program for Tribeca since we started the Tribeca Film Festival 19 years ago after 9/11,” says Jane Rosenthal, CEO and Co-Founder of Tribeca Enterprises and Tribeca Film Festival. “But now, the Tribeca Drive-In is much more than a fun, retro way to see movies — it’s one of the safest ways for communities to gather. We are thrilled to partner with Walmart to bring more people together around the shared cinematic experiences that Tribeca is known for.”
