Summer is almost over, and I am just not on board with that. I know there are moms out there all ready to send their kids off to school, lunches packed, out the door, and there they are taking their “back to school” pictures where they’re shoving their kids on the bus and cheering. But that just isn’t me. I love summer. I love the down time with my kid. I love the chance to breathe.
And I don’t want it to be over.
I want to swim a few more laps.
I want to cook a few more s’mores.
I want to run through a few more sprinklers.
I want to snuggle up on the couch and watch just a few more late night movies.
I want to spend more time with my kid.
If you’re the mom that can’t wait for school to be back in session that’s okay, too. I get it, girl. Sometimes we just need a break from the break, and that’s okay. It happens to the best of us, it happens to the worst of us. It’s a normal part of being a parent and just a human being in general, so don’t let anyone tell you any different. Not even me. I mean, what do I know?
When life is so busy, like life generally is these days, it’s hard to find the time to stop, and that’s what I like about summer, no matter who you are, no matter what you’re doing, summer exists and it can just force you to stop. So, if you haven’t taken the time yet to just enjoy it, that’s what I want you to do. Not for me, not for your job, not for your neighbors, and not even for your kids.
Do it for you, because it’s your summer, too.
