Let me start off by saying I love my husband and I am so lucky to have found this great man.

Now that I got that out of the way, I can start my story.

Unfortunately my wonderful husband does not share my wide interests, specifically fantasy television, specifically specifically Game of Thrones. #gameofthrones

I am almost as much a movie/TV fanatic as I am an obsessed book lover (notice the word almost), so naturally I have watched a lot of movies.

I like action, comedies, sappy and ridiculous romantic movies, the occasional musical, horror, some classics, thrillers, and of course FANTASY movies and television shows.

Which is why, in my house, there is a constant Battle Of The Remote…

What is it like to try to watch a movie that you both truly enjoy together? It’s like when Ron tried to perform the wingardium leviosa spell, he gets frustrated, and tells Hermione ‘you try it then’.

I get so irritated trying to pick something to watch and end up giving him the remote, only for him to pick something that has me grumbling under my breath.

Either way, one of us ends up unhappy with what we are watching.

Don’t get me wrong, he loves the Underworld series as much as I do (if he didn’t I’m not sure where our relationship would be at this point) so there’s that. Yes, there is a but coming, and that but is he doesn’t like Harry Potter or Game of Thrones *pause for shock and appall*.

I know!

I don’t understand it either, I mean he loves documentaries (there’s history in Game of Thrones) and he loves me, so he should love Harry Potter as well.

Believe me I have rationalized with him, used his friends who love the show try to convince him, plead with him, and even promised to watch a documentary with him.

I came up empty on ALL of those attempts, but I have not stopped trying.

We even bought a Christmas present for one of our close couple friends and I incorporated Daenerys and Khal Drogo’s love (it had moon and stars on it) into their gift, which they loved.

Still, no luck yet.

What is a girl to do if she cannot watch these amazing shows and movies without seeming like she isn’t willing to spend time with her amazing husband?

Stay up after he falls asleep and watch them until about 3am and you can barely keep your eyes open anymore.

If your husband is like mine and takes naps during the day, DO NOT hesitate to take advantage of that time even if you only watch one GOT episode.

I’ve done it and no I am not ashamed because in the end we are both happy.

If there is anyone else out there in my same situation, please feel free to comment on this post and send me your best tricks to watch your shows.

No, really, I am running out of ideas!!! Please comment below. Thank you.
