Alexa. We have learned that we can’t live without that little piece A.I. of technology.

She — I’m assuming she is a “she” — has become quite a part of our families, with her abilities to do all the things.

Her personal touch has gotten better and better through the years, but she’s about to do something that will give us all the sentimental vibes.

Alexa will soon be able to mimic the voice of a loved one. Even a deceased loved one.

All you have to do is supply a short recording of a loved one’s voice. Alexa will pick up on language clues and audio context, and be able to mimic the voice.

That means, you can say something like “Alexa, read me (insert book name here) in Grandma’s voice.” She will then do exactly that.

And, I use Grandma as an example, but you can really choose any loved one you wish.

You just have to provide a small sample of their voice for Alexa to develop a speech pattern that mimics your loved one.

Alexa can even appear to have human-like empathy!!

Just think what that will mean if you have a loved one who has passed. It will allow you to continue a “relationship” with that person.

Sure, it won’t be the same as physically having that person present in the room, but it will help.

While AI can’t eliminate the pain of loss, it can make those relationships last.

Customized voices aren’t the only improvement coming to Alexa.

She will also have a “conversation mode,” which will allow her to have more seamless conversations. You won’t have to say “Hey Alexa” every time you want to communicate with Alexa.

Alexa will “remember,” and be able to “carry on a conversation” with you. You can continue to ask her questions and make requests without starting each command with “Hey Alexa.”

Also, they have given Alexa human-like reasoning. She will use past events and information to “remember” and give you current information.

For example, if you ask her to remind you about the Super Bowl, she will not only look up the date and time, but make sure it is in your time zone, then she will set a reminder for 10 minutes before the game.

Alexa will also be able to “remember” your routine. It allows her to “think” before she speaks.

If someone tells Alexa they want to buy flowers for their wife, she will infer a romantic relationship and suggest buying red roses
