We have had a lot of great events to watch in the sky this year. I know it sucks being home, but it has also given us more time to do things like star gaze! We’ve watched comets, eclipses, and super moons, but this best is still to come!

The annual Perseid Meteor Shower will be peaking soon according to the American Meteor Society. This meteor shower features some of the brightest and even fastest meteors visible to us on Earth! It started in July, but August is where it is at for the best views.

The Perseid Meteor Shower will peak from August 11th until August 13th. You can expect to see about 75 meteors an hour! NASA says pre-dawn hours will get you the best view! But you should still be able to see the meteors around 10 pm.

For the best view, you will want to get as far away from light pollution as possible. If you live in the city, you will want to drive away from the area. The country views are so much better!

So find a nice spot, bring a blanket too! You’ll get the best view by laying on your back. You don’t need a telescope, because that will limit your view. By simply laying back and watching you’ll be able to catch a fantastic light show!
