Turns Out, Some Of Costco’s Kirkland Coffee Is Actually Roasted By Starbucks and My Mind Is Blown
I love Costco. And I Love Starbucks. And we are just now finding out that Costco’s Kirkland Coffee is actually roasted by Starbucks. Um…what?
Yep, there it is in tiny, little letters: “Custom Roasted by Starbucks”.
According to Moneywise, Costco’s ‘Kirkland’ brand actually uses a lot of big name companies to produce their items and are then sold under the Kirkland name. Other businesses, such as Trader Joe’s, do similar things, so this doesn’t come at a huge surprise.
This is actually good news for us, because it means we are getting name brand items under a discounted name! This makes me love Costco even more!
But back to the Kirkland Coffee. Some of the Kirkland brand coffee is actually roasted by Starbucks. The coffees that are roasted by the mega awesome coffee company have it written right on the label. Why have I never noticed this before?
To be fair though, they don’t exactly make it super noticeable. Sure, it says it on the label, but there’s different packaging with the label in different spots and the print isn’t huge or noticeable. OK, maybe I’m just making some excuses now because I feel silly for never having seen this before.
But make sure you check the label because not all Kirkland coffee is Starbucks roasted. But it is still delicious, so the choice is up to you!
I’ve tried both options and I think Costco picks some pretty superb coffee roasters, Starbucks or not, to bring us some good tasting coffees!

This makes me so happy that not only is Costco bringing us discounted items, but they are using care and precision to bring us great, name brand items in the process. Costco is just like a big hug, you know?
