The new makeup trend is dark circles under your eyes, and WHAT??!!

I usually take great care to make sure I DON’T have dark circles under my eyes.

My very first step in my eye makeup routine is to wipe under my eyes with a makeup remover cloth. Then I slap on the concealer to make those dark mommy rings under the eyes disappear.

But, it appears that I may be doing things the “Old School” way.

The new trend is to ADD dark circles under your eyes, and I’m truly baffled.

Not only are people highlighting those racoon under eye circles, they are using things like makeup and jewels to showcase this previously hidden area.

Websites like The Cut and Today think we should embrace those under eye bags, but I’m going to have to give this one a hard pass.

Remember in the 1990s, when heroine chic was the popular thing. This kind of reminds me of that, with a little bit of homeless old lady thrown in for funsies.

TikTok user @saracarstens even gives us instructions to achieve this weird new look.

I have them genetically and they were always very intense. The first makeup product I picked up was concealer. Later I realized that it’s nothing to be ashamed of and they can actually look pretty cool, so I decided to embrace them and include them in a few of my makeup looks.

If you simply must embrace this trend, it’s pretty easy. It works even better if you start with some natural shadow under those eyes.

Then you just swipe a bit of color under your eyes. You can go with a bronze color — for traditional under eye circles — or you can choose to go bold with a bright color of makeup. You can even finish it up with jewels to showcase those awesome circles.

What do you think? Will you be sporting this just-rolled-out-of-bed look??
