There’s another Disney recipe up for grabs and my stomach is growling!

The meal combines sweet with savory and is one of the most oldest recipes on the menu at Disneyland, since 1967! In fact, the recipe is so popular that Disneyland used to hand out index cards to the public, sharing their secrets in whipping up the meal! Sadly, they don’t do this anymore, but…!

Thanks to the official fan club of Walt Disney, D23, they’ve released both the current and old recipe on their website, and we are here to share the magic with you.

We all know that sharing is caring, especially when it comes down to diving into Disney’s recipe books!

It’s called the Monte Cristo Sandwich and it’s served at the Blue Bayou restaurant and Cafe Orleans in New Orleans Square!

Here’s how you make it, but first, let’s tackle the most current recipe used at Disneyland today. Here is what you’ll be needing…

Instructions:

1). Line a cookie sheet with paper towels and set aside.

2). Whisk the Egg and water together in a mixing bowl. Add your Flour, Salt, and Baking Powder and whisk thoroughly for 2 to 3 minutes until smooth.

3). On one slice of bread, add 2 slices of Ham, Turkey, and Cheese. Placing another slice of bread on top, slice each sandwich in half diagonally.

4). Heat the oil between 365 degrees F and 375 degrees F in a 10-inch pan.

5). Dip half of your sandwich into the batter, allowing the excess to drain, and very carefully, place into the oil. Repeat with the other half of the sandwich.

4). Cook 3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Place your cooked sandwich on the prepared cookie sheet in a warm oven until your ready to serve. Repeat these steps with the other three sandwiches, making sure you only cook one sandwich at a time.

5). Sprinkle with Confectioner’s Sugar and serve with Blackberry Preserves on the side for sauce!

Doesn’t that sound absolutely appetizing!
