Hulu’s New ‘Predator’ Movie Prequel Makes History with First All-Native American Cast
Need something to watch this weekend? Say no more!
The long-awaited ‘Predator’ prequel is finally here and if you have a Hulu subscription, you are in luck because it’s free to watch for Hulu subscribers.
The ‘Predator’ prequel is called Prey and it sets placed in 1719 following a skilled Comanche warrior who protects her tribe from a highly evolved alien predator that hunts humans for sport, fighting against wilderness, dangerous colonizers and this mysterious creature to keep her people safe.
Aside from the movie itself getting great reviews, it is be applauded for the fact it is Hollywood’s first movie with an All-Native American cast.
Many of the actors in the movie believe Prey is a great way to bring representation of Native American identities to Hollywood.
In fact, actor Dakota Beavers (plays Taabe in the movie) told Variety:
“Being Native is a part of who I am,”
“Being able to represent Native people as accurately as you can with [producer] Jhane Myers — who is a Comanche woman herself — as the producer on this project, just meant the absolute world to me. So many times in the past, people are misrepresented or inaccurately depicted. You know, sometimes not on purpose, but just because there’s not a whole lot of Natives on the top of the film industry. So hopefully after this, that will change.”
So, if you haven’t already, schedule in a time to watch Prey this weekend.
