Here’s Why You Should Care About The New Budget Proposal Being Voted On This Month
I have really made it a habit as of late to try to avoid all the news channels. It’s just doom after gloom every. single. day.
Can we just go one dang day without hearing about the next catastrophe that makes us want to hole up in our houses with the doors locked and with our heads under a big fluffy blanket?
But, you may want to poke your head out from your secret hiding place to check out what is going down on Capitol Hill this month.
The future of our country – and perhaps the planet – is being decided for us.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Just check out what this $3.5 trillion budget blueprint means for us as a country.
We could actually correct some of the poverty level in this country.
The pandemic has brought with it a bunch of weirdness, has it not? Yes, we have received stimulus money, which has been detrimental to those who lost work during this crazy time.
But, there are some lasting negative financial impacts, and it’s almost impossible to get out from under them (student loans, mortgages, elderly and disabled who continue to live in poverty, etc).
We are the “richest” country in the world, but so many of us sure don’t see that wealth.
Just tell that single parent, who works 3 jobs just to try and survive, and who can’t keep consistent food on the table, that we are all wealthy.
Under this new Budget Blueprint, the child tax credit would remain a permanent thing, hopefully reducing child poverty by 50%.
There is also a plan to reform and enhance Supplemental Security Income, making it possible for those that rely on SSI to exist to feel like they can actually make it from month to month.
Climate Change is a part of this Blueprint, and we may actually keep a decent world for the next generations.
Lately, when I have absentmindedly flipped past a news channel, they are always talking about how the climate change happening to this world is happening more and more rapidly.
I won’t even get into all the catastrophic changes that are occuring now on a daily basis, but trust me, it’s not looking great.
The White House has called on Congress to go big with tax credits, new standards and billions for conservation. This would be a green energy investment dwarfing even the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

It’s a great start, right?
They are going to actually try to EXPAND Medicare, which is pretty much a joke right now.
This could mean that those on Medicare actually get to take advantage of services like dental care, along with vision and hearing benefits.
While it’s not part of the existing proposal, President Biden wants to get the Medicare eligible age down to 60.
I mean, it’s not EVERYBODY, but at least it’s a good start. Who knows what kind of chain reaction tackling Medicare might start.
Okay, but a $3.5 trillion budget increase is huge. How in the world are we going to pay for it?
Well, they want to increase taxes — but wait!! Don’t stop reading.
You know those wealthy corporations and billionaires (like the ones who have been playing astronaut as of late)? Biden wants to increase taxes on these corporations and individuals.
You might be thinking, “Oh great. This will NEVER pass all those corporate lobbyists who have money to throw at this little tax issue.”
That’s the thing. This is actually one of the most popular things that Biden is proposing. It just might be bigger than any lobbyist has the ability to brush under the rug.
BUT, will this Blueprint actually come to fruition?
The pandemic has proved we have the capacity and willingness to help people without getting caught up on all the zeros it costs. And we’re about to see the culmination of a period of legislating that rivals the New Deal when it comes to direct support for struggling Americans.

The House will be voting on this proposal later this month.
You know how you can help?
Let your voice be heard. Call your representatives and senators. Let them know that you unequivocally want to see a change.
Don’t let them just get away with voting this proposition down. Let it be known that you KNOW about it, and you want to see it go into effect.
