Netflix Just Released The Trailer For The New True Crime Documentary On The Watts Family Murders
Netflix has a documentary coming out called ‘American Murder: The Family Next Door’. It’s a complete in-depth documentary on the Watts family and the murders that took place. Most of us have heard of Shanann Watts and her two beautiful daughters.
I remember social media was flooded with missing person posts about the three of them. It was horrifying. It really hit home, because I also have a personal friend that the same thing has happened to.
Everything online made you believe that this was the perfect loving family, that just proves that the way we use social media can be very misleading. There were beautiful family photos and they really looked happy. But it wasn’t the truth at all.
I went through one of the darkest times of my life, and then I met Chris. And he’s one of the best things that ever happened to me.
Shanann said in a video on social media
Shanann was pregnant with her third child when they went “missing” from their home in Colorado. Chris acted like she had taken off with the kids and he was the confused and heartbroken victim. He was a liar and a murderer.
In 2018, 34-year-old Shanann Watts and her two young daughters went missing in Frederick, Colorado. As heartbreaking details emerged, their story made headlines worldwide.

When their bodies were discovered at a nearby petroleum facility (where he had been employed previously), he admitted to the killings. Chris plead guilty to the murders and is now in prison.
The documentary is told through archival footage, including social media posts, text messages, home videos, and law enforcement recordings from the investigation.
Netflix has given a voice to these victims with this documentary. ‘American Murder: The Family Next Door’ will begin streaming on Netflix on September 30th. You can watch the trailer below.
