Okay, so all week I’ve been talking about your online author platform and how to make it not suck with some easy steps…. but I am about to burst your bubble.

So, prepare yourself.

Are you prepared? No… I’ll give you a second.

Okay, I’ve said it before and I’m saying it again. Heck every agent, author, editor, etc. out there has said it several times–you just need to listen.

Don’t do it if you don’t like it.

Seriously, writing is already a tough gig, and if you’re spending your WRITING time tweeting about crap you don’t care about or playing facebook games because that’s what you think you should be doing (It’s not… just let those crops rot.) then you are wasting your time.

Only do what you like. If you love blogging- BLOG, but if you hate it– DON’T BLOG. Seriously, that’s the beauty of the internet these days. With such a focus on user based content, people are savvy and they can tell when you don’t love what you’re doing.

Elana Johnson hates twitter. So, she doesn’t really use it. To her I say KUDOS girl… don’t do anything you don’t want to!

So, today in the comments, we’re going to do something a little different. I want you to tell me your LEAST favorite networking site, and why… rant on people!

  1. I loathe Facebook. Seriously. The next time I somebody sends me a Farmville, Yoville, Mafia War, sorority sister, faux margarita, or water balloon request, I’ll scream!

Yes, I know I can block those applications, but still…

    Dear Facebook,
I’ve met someone new. When you started sharing my profile with other applications, I got scared. Twitter understands me and knows I could never be exclusive.

  2. I recently deleted my Myspace account. I wasn’t doing any real networking on it. Also, too many random loons and pervs sent me messages through it.

  3. I’m no twitterer. And facebook is only for family. I blog…but only about once a week on a regular schedule. If I tried to do all the other I’d never write!

  4. I’m a twitter hater too! I also am fed up with LinkedIn. It just sits there and stares at me. Facebook is personal – family, friends, I get bored with it easily and addicted to billiards. Since discovering blogland. “I’m a blogger girl, in a blogger wor or orld …”

    1. @The Alliterative Allomorph, I am SO not a twitter hater… it’s my FAVORITEST networking tool of ALL. But yeah… do what you love… that’s the rules!

  5. Linked In! Does anyone even really use it for networking? It’s just one huge mutual admiration society.
I see people that I’ve worked with that were horrible, people that other coworkers could not stand. But there it is ~glowing praise~ from someone that played WOW all day at his desk and couldn’t market himself out of a wet paper bag.

    1. @Ellise, UGH I HATE that website.

The other day we had to fill out a paper listing all our social networking sites and on Linked in, instead of giving my address, I just wrote “Sucks donkey balls.”

    1. @Lisa Green, HAHA me too Lisa… last week my friends staged a Twittervention. 🙂
