Walmart Will Be Closed On Thanksgiving Day This Year, Ending Their Black Friday Tradition
We all know the night of Thanksgiving is the start of Black Friday.
It’s a chaotic night for everyone if you’re going shopping. I go out on Black Friday every year with friends, but I only really remember going out once or twice on Thanksgiving night and it was hectic!
Eating an entire turkey meal and picking up some red bull to go shopping for Christmas deals has been a Black Friday tradition for years.
With that being said, Walmart is closing their doors on Thanksgiving Day and I am completely shocked.
Last year, Walmart released their doorbuster sales at 6 p.m. which brings in an enormous crowd every year.
Along with Walmart, Sam’s Club locations will also be closed on Thanksgiving day.
To be honest, I’m happy to see that Walmart and Sam’s Club are closing on on the holiday. It gives workers a chance to be with their families and that is especially important. Besides we can all shop online anyways.
Black Friday hours on November 27th, will be announced at a later date according to a press release.
“We know this has been a trying year, and our associates have stepped up. We hope they will enjoy a special Thanksgiving Day at home with their loved ones,” John Furner, president and CEO of Walmart US, said in a statement. “We are certainly thankful to our people for all of their efforts.”

Kudos to you Walmart, you’re doing a good thing. In fact, many other retail stores should follow suit.
