Breastfeeding is no easy task.

Moms give life and then are given the task of feeding that new life and it’s a pretty amazing thing.

While just about everyone knows how breastfeeding happens, you’d probably never think that milk can end up coming out of other areas in your body.

New mom Lindsay White was shocked when she saw her milk coming out of another area on her body – – her armpit!

Lindsay had no idea that lactating from your armpits was even possible until it happened to her.

This momma noticed this strange occurrence while breastfeeding her baby. She first noticed her baby’s hair was soaked and then saw milk dripping from her armpits.

I don’t know about you, but I would have been terrified seeing this the first time.

The good news is, while this is not commonly known or talked about, this is perfectly normal.

According to Emily Brittingham — International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and volunteer breastfeeding counselor with the Australian Breastfeeding Association — it’s totally normal for the breast to have tissue that extends into your armpit.

“At six weeks gestation, when you were a tiny embryo in your mother’s womb, milk lines began to develop, starting from your underarms,” Brittingham wrote for BellyBelly.com. “These lines traveled down both sides of your torso and extended all the way to your groin.”

Basically, these milk lines can extend to the armpit and even leak just like breasts.
