Today came the bizarre news that Britney Spears has changed her name.
Now, there aren’t exactly court papers to back up her claims. So, we aren’t exactly sure it’s a legal name change or anything.
But, she took to Instagram to tell the world that she decided to change her name — right before she deleted her account.
This isn’t the first time she has deleted her Instagram account.
Just last year, she “needed a break” from the social media platform, so she deleted her account for just a little bit.
But, as far as we know, this is the first time she has decided to change her name.
What name did she choose for herself?
River Red.
A bright one… easy does it!!! Thank you, childhood friend, I found my ball… don’t underestimate the power of purity!!! — I see right through it all… it has liquid and is wet… it’s playful and has mass!!! I changed my name to River Red!!! Yet the fire is where it illuminates… to stare at it and jump right in with no fear at all!!!! S**t. Now I have to find my FORK!!!

Um. Okay. I wonder why she decided on such an abstract name — River Red. What does it mean?
This news of the name change comes just a week after her weird public meltdown in the middle of a restaurant — one that had her husband walking out and leaving her all alone.
We really hope Britney — ‘er, River Red — is okay.
Hopefully this isn’t the return of 2007 Britney — attacking cars with umbrellas and shaving her head.
