Y’all this is the purest news of the entire 2020 Summer!

The Cincinnati Zoo just shared photos and videos of their new Eastern Black Rhino calf that was just born! This Rhino calf is the CUTEST!

They didn’t announce if this sweet baby was a boy or a girl yet and there hasn’t been a name announcement. But this is huge news because the Eastern Black Rhino is a critically endangered species!

Because they have such a long gestation, it is very difficult to build up the population. The gestational period is 16 months! Can you even imagine being pregnant for that long? Holy cow!

The zoo has announced that both mama and baby are doing great and have been having some private time bonding since birth. The calf was born Friday night just after 6:30 pm!

This is the second calf for the mother who is named Seyia, and father that is named Faru.

Seyia gave birth to her first calf Kendi (shown above nursing from his sweet mama) in 2017. Kendi now resides at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. ⠀

I look forward to watching the updates on this little one! Seriously, we all need something positive right now and this is such a happy moment to celebrate!
