Denzel Washington Is Playing A Historical Ancient Warrior In A New Netflix Epic
Denzel Washington is all set to star in a new Netflix epic film that will be directed by Antoine Fuqua.
The film is going to be about Hannibal — not the cannibal — the Carthaginian warrior that actually existed in real life.
Hannibal Barca is known for invading Italy while riding a Northern African war elephant — you’ve probably seen pictures in your history books.
He led the Carthaginians in several victories against the Romans, but was eventually defeated by the Romans at the Battle of Zama.
Based on real-life warrior Hannibal, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest military commanders in history. The film covers the pivotal battles he led against the Roman Republic during the Second Punic War.
Official Synopsis
This yet-to-be-named film — known now as the Hannibal project — will be written by John Logan.
If that name sounds familiar, he is the three-time Academy Award winner who wrote the Martin Scorsese flick, The Aviator, and Ridley Scott’s Gladiator.
I can’t wait! It’s been a hot minute since we’ve seen a good epic!
Since they haven’t yet started this film, we have no idea when it’s going to be released.
