Now once you’ve voted, you may be wondering how you can ensure your ballot is received, processed and counted.

How to Track Your Mail-in Ballot

Tracking your mail-in ballot is quite easy. It just relies on two things: 1. having the unique serial number of your ballot and 2. ensuring your state participates in tracking.

Most states, with the help of USPS, send ballots in envelopes with a unique set of numbers for each individual voter. Those numbers are often known as Intelligent Mail Barcodes, which allow the Postal Service to track the ballot.

In order to track your ballot, you must register to do so.

 The tracking numbers enable you to track your ballot but you’ll have to register through your state’s voter website to be able to track your ballot.

You’ll also have to enter some basic information into the website, including your name, birthday and zip code.

So, once you have the necessary information, you’ll want to register with your state in order to track your ballot. There is a list of states that allow ballot tracking below.
